Queenstown Holidays

Queenstown is renowned for its magnificent scenery as well as being the adventure capital of New Zealand. Situated on the shores of the stunning Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by the magnificent Remarkables mountain ranges, holidays to Queenstown guarantee impressive views.

A perfect year round destination, the town is a lively hub of activity with plenty to keep you occupied. Holidays to Queenstown are the perfect place to dive in to a range of water-sports; swimming, kayaking or jet boating. With such stunning mountain scenery, taking one of the many walking or hiking trails are a great way to relax away from the city bustle. The Queenstown Hill Time walking trail takes you to the summit of Mount Te Tapu-nui, where you will be greeted by panoramic views across the city and its surrounding areas.

Things to do in Queensland

The fascinating Milford Sound is the perfect trip for avid hikers, nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike. Carved by ancient glaciers, the fiord is surrounded by mountains which loom up to 1000 feet above it. There are opportunities to kayak down the fiord, or for a more relaxing ride, hop on one of the sight-seeing cruises to experience the scenery all the way to the open sea. Keep your eyes peeled for the dolphins, which sometimes like to swim alongside the boats. For those interested in the unique marine wildlife that lives in the waters, the Harrison observatory allows you to catch sights of rare corals, varies species of fish and anemones.

For unrivalled views of the city, and surrounding areas, hop on the Skyline Gondola. Sit back and enjoy the fascinating sights as the cable car carries you gently, over Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and up to Bob’s Peak. At the top, you can cycle round one of the many biking trails, or choose one of the walking tracks to take in the panoramic views. For a little adventure take the cable car, further up the mountain, for a ride or two on the Skyline Luge. Its ‘Scenic Track’ has easy bends and a low gradient for beginners, while the ‘Advanced Track’ is steeper and curvier, built for the more daring rider.  If you’d prefer to take in the sights over a meal or a drink, head to the Stratosfare Queenstown Restaurant or bar, where the floor to ceiling windows allow you to relax and soak up the sights.

Whether you want a holiday filled with adrenaline fuelled jet boating, helicopter rides and mountain safaris, or a more relaxing time away, with lake cruises and hikes around the Mount Aspiring National Park, Queenstown really will take your breath away.
