Itinerary

  • Day 1: Sydney, Port Macquarie and Welcome Dinner

Our adventure begins with a drive across the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge to the beautiful seaside town of Port Macquarie. This evening meet your fellow travellers and crew at a Welcome Dinner and Drinks.

  • Day 2: Byron Bay, Gold Coast

Renowned for its surf beaches, Byron Bay is a pretty seaside holiday town that attracts both wealthy city dwellers as well as bohemian lifestylers, after this we see Cape Byron, the Australian mainland?s most easterly point, before continuing the journey north to the Gold Coast. Perhaps stroll along the famous golden sands of Surfers Paradise beach as the sun sets before discovering the diversity of restaurants on offer.

  • Day 3: Brisbane, Australia Zoo, Fraser Island

The lively city of Brisbane awaits our discovery before we continue to the Sunshine Coast and visit the world renowned Australia Zoo. Made famous by the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, Australia Zoo features a plethora of wild animals from all corners of the globe. From smallest of reptiles to the largest of mammals, Australia Zoo, has over 100 different species. It?s a great attraction to not only see animals but also gain a greater understanding of conservation and the importance of protecting our endangered species. Later, we travel north to Fraser Island.

  • Day 4: Fraser Island

The largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island is a popular location for spotting majestic Humpback whales as they make their journey north for the winter, between the months of June and November. We discover this beautiful island today on a half-day tour before spending some time at leisure to further explore the island. Perhaps visit the wreck of the Maheno, a Trans-Tasman liner that was driven ashore during a cyclone in 1935. Or you may prefer to relax on a stretch of white sand with a good book, before donning snorkelling gear to discover the island?s underwater residents.

  • Day 5: Hervey Bay, Rockhampton

A morning cruise takes us across Hervey Bay, back to the mainland, where we rejoin our coach for the journey north. We travel through sugar cane country, crossing some of the many narrow gauge railway lines that transport cut sugar cane from the field to processing plants in town, an iconic sight of rural Queensland. Later, we arrive in the inland city of Rockhampton, known as the beef capital of Australia.

  • Day 6: Rockhampton, Daydream Island

The gateway to the coast and the Outback, the city of Rockhampton, also boasts some of the best provincial gardens in Australia. We take a tour of these beautiful gardens before travelling to Airlie Beach, where we join a cruise through the sparkling Whitsundays to the small but picturesque resort of Daydream Island.

  • Day 7: Daydream Island

The whole day is at leisure on Daydream Island today to do as little or as much as you like. Perhaps visit the many species of tropical fish by snorkelling directly off the beach, stroll through the tropical jungle to the highest point of the island, relax with a book by one of the many inviting swimming pools or enjoy some of the watersports and spa treatments available (own expense).

  • Day 8: Whitehaven Beach

A jewel in the crown of the Whitsundays, Whitehaven Beach is a must see on any visit to the region. With over seven kilometres of pristine beach where crystal clear aqua blue water gently laps on the white silica sand, the perfect destination for a relaxing escape. During our time here, we have plenty of opportunities to do as little or as much as we choose. Perhaps go snorkelling and discover the myriad of tropical fish and coral species that call the Whitsundays home. Alternatively enjoy watersports or just relax with a good book.

  • Day 9: Townsville, Mission Beach

Our journey north continues today with an early morning ferry transfer back to the mainland where we re-board our coach and travel to Townsville. On arrival, enjoy a city tour of this tropical city, surrounded by rainforested hinterland and the Great Barrier Reef. It?s also the gateway to the vast open plains of Outback Australia on the other side of the range. Departing Townsville we continue north to Mission Beach, our overnight stay.

  • Day 10: Atherton Tablelands, Cairns

Surrounded by lush rainforest, visit Millaa Millaa Falls and the Curtain Fig tree. Later, board the Kuranda Skyrail for great views of the region.

  • Day 11: Green Island, Farewell Dinner

Green Island is one of the best destinations on the Great Barrier Reef for viewing the unique species of coral and fish that call the reef home. Whether you?re snorkelling, scuba diving or riding in a glass bottom boat, our cruise to Green Island is sure to be a highlight. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner at Tjapukai By Night. Take part in a corroboree, then enjoy a dinner of the region?s best food.
