The Great Beach Drive

Explore the bustling city of Brisbane, and enjoy the many al fresco eateries as you go. Head to the Botanic Gardens to see the unusual species of flowers and trees that grow there before hopping on the Wheel of Brisbane for panoramic views of the city.

Pick up your Avis car hire and drive north along the stunning coastline towards the laidback town of Noosa on Australia’s Nature Coast.

Discover an array of different landscapes in Noosa National Park, from tropical everglades and thick rainforest to tranquil rivers, and freshwater pools.

Cross the Noosa River and continue on to the surfer’s haven of Double Island Point. Walk up to the lighthouse for beautiful views of the bay. Take the Leisha Track onto Rainbow Beach and spend time exploring the quaint seaside town, and marvel at its towering sand cliff backdrop. Rise early and watch the sunrise over the sand expanse of Carlo Sand Blow before enjoying one of the many activities offered such as horseriding across the coloured sands, beach fishing, or simply a coastal walk to discover the diverse flora and fauna.

Venture on to the world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island, and bask in the thrill of driving along 75 mile beach, before stopping on a remote beach for a picnic lunch. Walk through lush rainforest, swim in the clear waters of Lake Mckenzie, and visit the famous Maheno Shipwreck on a guided Beauty Spots tour, and spot an abundance of wildlife along the way.

Continue along the Great Beach Drive to the whale watching capital of Australia, Hervey Bay. Offering fantastic fishing experiences and watersports opportunities such as paddleboarding, kitesurfing, and kayaking, there is always plenty to do in Hervey Bay. Visit from July to November and watch humpback whales play in the calm sheltered waters of the bay.

Head back towards the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Stop off at Mooloolaba and go swimming with whales, a truly unforgettable experience, before a bite to eat at The Wharf overlooking the Mooloolah River.
