    Time difference: Africa uses six different time zones, ranging from GMT -1 to GMT + 4

    Visa: Each country has its own Visa requirements. Please check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website.

    Climate: Africa has a range of climates ranging from the equatorial climate, the tropical wet and dry climate, the tropical monsoon climate, the semi-desert climate, the desert climate, and the subtropical highland climate.

    If you're thinking about stopping over in Africa, here's a rough guide of flying times from London, and then on to Australia.

    London Heathrow to Cape Town = 12 hours
    London Heathrow to Nairobi = 8 hours 30 minutes
    London Heathrow to Johannesburg = 11 hours

    Cape Town to Sydney = 12 hours
    Nairobi to Perth = 13 hours
    Johannesburg to Sydney = 12 hours
