Alamo car hire lets you pick up and drop off in more than 360 locations throughout the USA & Canada, so you can start in one destination, and drop the car off in another.
Your choice of rental cars
Every vehicle has air conditioning, am/fm radio, automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. Please ensure you rent a car suitable for your party size, luggage requirements and holiday plans – the details below are to be used as a guide only. Upgrading in resort will be far more expensive. Our agents can advise if you need help choosing the right vehicle. Please call us for the latest prices on your chosen car. At San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orlando, Las Vegas and many more airport rental centres your car will not be pre-allocated, so you can have your pick of the fleet within the vehicle category you have booked!

Terms & Conditions
Driver Requirements
All drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid licence and major credit card. Drivers aged 21-24 incur an additional charge which is payable locally (approx. $25 + tax per driver per day) Only authorised drivers listed on the rental agreement are permitted to drive the cars. Each driver must be present when picking up the vehicle to show their valid driving licence.
Travel Advice & Restrictions
Alamo cars can be driven in any state/province in North America. However, driving on unpaved roads is not permitted and will void your insurance. Driving in Mexico is not permitted.
Vehicle Pick Up and Drop Off
If there isn’t an Alamo rental facility inside the airport terminal, take the courtesy shuttle from outside the baggage reclaim area (approx. every 5 mins) to reach the Alamo rental centre. If you wish to upgrade your vehicle at the Alamo rental facility, you will be charged an additional daily fee payable locally. Your credit card will be billed at pick up for all charges not all included in your package. Any unused portions of your rental voucher will not be refunded. A credit card imprint will also be taken as a deposit. Your rental agreement serves as your vehicle registration whilst the car is in your possession, so keep it in the vehicle at all times. For your peace of mind, multilingual roadside assistance is available 24/7.
Your rental agreement is on a 24 hour basis. If you are late when returning your car you may be charged an hourly fee by Alamo (payable locally) There are no refunds for early drop offs.
Liability & Cover
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) protects you from financial responsibility if the car should be stolen/damaged regardless of fault, from the first dollar of damage. For Rental Only packages, CDW is not included and will be payable locally. Basic third party liability coverage (state minimum only) is included in all rentals and protects you and any authorised drivers should you injure or damage property up to the state limit. Each state has a minimum level of coverage which may be as low as $10,000. On Fully Inclusive and Gold Packages, we have increased the cover to $1,000,000, and also included Uninsured Motorist Protection (UMP) for renters and family members (related by blood, marriage or adoption) against accidental death or injury should you be hit by an uninsured/underinsured driver (up to an aggregate single limit of $100,000 per accident)
Deposits, local fees & taxes
Your credit card will be swiped at pick up for authorisation however no amount will be deducted. For Rental Only packages all state/local taxes, surcharges and airport fees are payable locally at time of pick up. These vary across the USA/Canada and are payable on rental charges and optional items. Changes to legislation or regulations may affect Alamo’s pricing or procedures. Alamo reserves the right, without notice, to charge customers at the time of rental or thereafter, for the amount of additional or increased surcharges fees or taxes.
One Way Rentals & Fees
If you pick up your car at one location and return it to another, you will be required to pay a one way fee when you pick up the car. Fees are based on mileage, vary between states and are subject to local tax. However, if you pick up and drop off within California, within Florida or between California, Nevada and Arizona, your rental is exempt from one way fees, excluding San Francisco Downtown location when picking up from 01st July – 31st August. One way rentals are not permitted on economy cars.
Fuel & Mileage
All cars run on petrol. You will receive your car with a full tank of petrol and can return it empty. With Gold packages, one tank of petrol is included in your agreement. With the Fully Inclusive and Rental Only packages you will be offered to pre-pay for this tank of petrol at the time of pick up, otherwise you will need to return the car with a full tank or be charged locally for returning it empty. No refund will be given for petrol purchased but not used. Mileage is unlimited.
* Please be assured that we will make sure that the size of your car is suitable for your party size, however it is more than likely that when you go to pick up your car the you will be strongly advised to upgrade your car to a bigger one, please be advised that if you choose to upgrade further then you will be charged for this locally.
