Coffs Harbour Holidays

Coffs Harbour is one of the largest regional cities in New South Wales. With unspoilt beaches stretching up and down the north coast, the area makes for great surfing, fishing and beach picnics or barbeques. The local area surrounding Coffs Harbour is well known for its banana plantations that fill the landscape with rich greenery that thrives in the tropical climate. But as well as being home to beautiful, beaches, Coffs Harbour holidays also provide a great range of shops, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.

Things to do in Coff's Harbour

When you combine all that is great about Coffs Harbour – from its subtropical climate, clean and uncrowded beaches and a subtropical climate, you can see why it’s also a really popular destination for family holidays in this area of coastline. There are also some great activities and attractions to participate in, like Coffs Harbour Zoo,  Big Banana, the Butterfly House and the Pet Porpoise Pool. Bigger kids can learn to surf or paddle board on the calm waters or try their hand at kayaking and white water rafting on Nymboida River’s rapids. If you’re happier on land, then there are 4WD tours, horseback riding, mountain bike adventures and beach buggy rides, so you can see more of the countryside.

Located midway between Sydney and Brisbane, Coffs Harbour is 540 kilometres north of Sydney and approximately 400 kilometres south of Brisbane and trains operate daily from cities, with daily flights connecting to Coffs Harbour from Sydney and other major cities.

For sublime views of the beach and city, take a short drive up to Sealy Lookout in Bruxner Park, which is just northwest of the city. Here you will find Forest Sky Pier, a great place to start your adventures, exploring Coffs Harbour. Then take a gentle stroll over the old timber jetty, an historic landmark and the promenade linking land to water. Take time to sample some fish and chips from the Fishermen’s Co-op at the marina and relax as you enjoy the sea air as you the fishermen bringing in freshly caught fish of the day. Next, we recommend a walk to Muttonbird Island for some great photo opportunities, with spectacular 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, islands, marina and mountains.

You’ve probably already realised that there are many things to do in Coffs Harbour, if you enjoy fishing then this is a great place to cast out. From the beach or jetty or on a deep-sea fishing adventure – you won’t be disappointed.  If you want to enjoy the marine life close up, then the area is perfect for snorkelers and scuba divers like, with a rich array of marine life to spot in the warm waters.  Head to South Solitary Island Marine Park, which is ideal for beginners and more experienced divers. You can even join a whale-watching cruise, best enjoyed between the months of May and November, to watch humpback whales and you will be sure to spot dolphins all year round.

Coffs is home to 11 fabulous beaches - and if you visit between May and October, be sure to go on a whale watching cruise.
